Nature, hypnosis & mindset

Everyday hypnosis

An excerpt from The NATUROPATHIC PSYCHOLOGIST, shared in the author’s original words.

The 5 beautiful things experience is another way to rewire your perception of reality, to invite in abundance and joy and begin to experience the world around you through fresh eyes.

It is as the name describes. Notice 5 things throughout your day, and with every 'thing' describe it in your mind. This is a way of hypnotising your mind as you go about your day, it requires no time but rather takes up space from what otherwise is circular chatter.

When you are on holidays you naturally do this, you experience the world anew, exclaim at the beauty of the animals, insects, people and land. The tastes and smells are all fresh and exhilarating forming the nature of the "holiday" experience.

So why don't we bring this experience into our everyday. Can you make the choice today to change your perception actively to see your life through a more inquisitive and awe- filled lens?

Beautiful things description example (here are 5 I may randomly decide on):

A flower: it is white, smells like my grandmas old backyard, has soft ridges, is glowing on the inside, is spacious, reminds me of summer

An interaction: made me feel loved, seen, brought me back into my body, got me out of my head, made me feel connected, I left feeling strong A drink: warm on my tongue, calming to my system, grounding to my body, time slowed down, the best part of this hour

Salt on my food: the perfect balance, replenishment after my run, connection to the ocean, gratitude for its source, reminds me of how else the salt heals and replenishes my system.

My pillow: safety at the end of the day, time well spent, connected, entering the dream space, time to meditate and cultivate my connection to the land in my chest.

Imagine how many different options you have throughout your day. As you can see this doesn't require much in materialistic sense but is rather foundational appreciation.

Then, when you finish each thought, acknowledgment of the moment or whatever it is I want you to say in your mind "thank you, thank you and I acknowledge how great that felt." This is your way of giving back in gratitude and teaching your body to trust the world is holding it. Calming the nervous system, teaching the body these small important moments exist and are accessible through our own intentional feeling space.

When you begin to feel safer in your body you may even become aware of how your body responds, a small feeling of hope or joy in your chest or perhaps you feel clearer in the eyes.

Back to the holiday concept. Why is it that we wait to be on holidays to reflect on our favourite moments, our best times, how good we feel. Allow yourself to acknowledge these beautiful moments in life and reconnect to the present and the now.

These are your pills to decrease anxiety, depression and brain fog. More and more research is showing that we truly to have the tools within us. It is connecting to the simplicity of it all.
